The following is a product overview of the RCHover Battery Tray / gyro, receiver mount.
The battery tray is an aluminium extension that screws to the underside
of the T-Rex servo cradle. The pictures below illustrate the fitting of
this battery tray upgrade.
The tray comes in a variety of colours and is very light weight due to
it being of aluminium construction. The tray feels quite sturdy and once
mounted provides quite a solid and stable mounting platform. To the top
of this platform you could mount a receiver (as in the pictures above)
or a gyro. Keeping these items well away from the ESC.
The platform can also be used in conjunction with a velcro wrap to secure
your lipo in place as illustrated in the pictures above. The tray doesn't
interfere or in anyway inhibit the fitting of the canopy and allows the
pack to be mounted slightly higher up, so for long thin packs it provides
a little more space for the pack to fit down into the nose of the canopy.
Fitting the tray is a simple case of drilling three pilot holes in the
underside of the servo tray holder and then screwing the tray into place
using the supplied screws.
Having fitted the tray I like the sturdy platform it provides and my lipo
is now better secured than ever inside the canopy. Total installation time
was about ten minutes, so this is a very easy upgrade to fit. The tray
will also provide some limited protection to the lipo in the event of a
nose first crash, although I wouldn't want to test this or rely upon it
to save the pack from damage.
All in all a nice simple and effective upgrade part.
