A safety precaution for stopping radio glitches or interference getting to your receiver, specifcally electronic interference from the motor, BEC or ESC. The ferrite ring has the wire from the ESC to the receiver wrapped around and through it. This stops the electronic intereference getting to your receiver and causing problems/glitches. The rings are extremely light weight, so they have little effect on the AUW of the machine.
