The following is a product overview of the Heliup Carbon Tail Braces.
The Heliup carbon tail braces consist of some carbon rod and CNC ends.
The CNC ends are just CA'd onto the carbon rod as part of the build. The
completed tail brace is a one for one swap with the original Align carbon
tail braces. The big difference between the stock and Heliup parts is the
thickness of the carbon rods. The Align braces are quite thin carbon rod
and flex and bend relatively easily. The Heliup carbon rods are very stiff
and do not bend or have much flex in them, plus with the CNC ends they
form a very secure mount to the rear of the side frames and the horizontal
fin bracket. So they are acting as a proper and solid boom support, unlike
the stock items.
The heliup parts offer no weight saving over the original stock parts.
Having flown this upgrade I can't see any noticeable difference in the
level of vibration on the tail but I hadn't had any real vibration issues
before fitting the supports so it is difficult to say whether the stiff
boom supports have a noticeable effect when there wasn't a problem to be
fixed in the first instance. Having seen the plastic ends on the original
tail boom supports split and break at least this upgrade will stop that
particular problem from occuring. Statically you can feel that the tail
boom is much better supported and rigid.
I discussed the original design concept with Heliup and the braces were
introduced to stop vibration on the tail boom, in particular for the stretch
boom which can suffer more from vibration than the original stock boom.
The quality of the CNC parts and carbon rod is superb and purerly from
a bling perspective looks very good on the machine.
