The following is a product overview of the MicroHeli Adjustable Tail Pushrod PRO.
In the kit you are supplied with to carbon rods, one rod joiner, one tail
boom guide for the carbon rod and a hexagon key for the grub screws in
the joiner. Also in the packet was a plastic connector to fit onto the
end of the carbon rod, this plastic connector is the clamping type that
fits around a servo horn. Unfortunately it was too big to fit onto the
threaded aluminium end of the carbon rod, so I just screwed a T-Rex ball
link onto it instead.
The MicroHeli adjustable tail pushedrod is a fairly simple design in that
it consists of two pieces of carbon rod. One long length and one short
length. Both of these rods insert into a small aluminium "joiner"
which has two small grub screws in it that clampdown on to the carbon rod.
Effectively this creates one long carbon rod with the joiner most of the
way towards one end. The overall length of the rod can be adjusted by loosening
one of the grub screws and pulling one or other rod out from the joiner
a little. The joiner is long enough that it allows fast and easy adjustment
of the push rod length. The aim being that the tail can be adjusted quickly
and easily without having to move the servo on the tail boom or screw in
or out ball links.
This system works very effectively and after fitting this item I'm very
quickly adjusted the tail to get the optimum settings for my servo and
gyro.
I do have a couple of reservations with regard to this system. Firstly
although I'm sure this system works extremely well I am somewhat uncomfortable
that the pushrod to the tail is not one piece. I find myself worrying that
one of the grub screws in the joiner may come undone. I should stress that
this hasn't happened but it is a worry. A similar system is employed on
the Raptor 50 and having flown one of these for over a year it never came
undone.
Secondly the grub screws in the joiner are extremely small and require
the use of a tiny hexagon key. This key is extremely easy to lose or misplace.
This of course would not be a disaster as the pushrod could still be adjusted
in the conventional manner.
Overall (and despite these reservations) I like the system as it makes
it so easy to adjust the tail.
