This page documents all the motors that I know of that provide good to excellent performance in the Trex 450x. All motor testing is performed on a static controlled bench with the T-Rex strapped down and linked through a Medusa Power Analyser to the PC.Click on the following link for some pictures and description of the functionality of the Medusa Power Analyser Plus. I am also now using the Hyperion Emeter to gather power analysis data. If you have a motor not on this list but would like to calculate (roughly) the required pinion it can be done as follows : target rpm * teeth on main gear / motor kv / voltage / motor efficiency In the case of the T-Rex this equates to an equation for the Align 400S with 3S lipo as follows : 2400 * 150 / 2800 / 11.1 / 80% = 14T Another useful resource for calculating power systems was sent to me by one of my forum members (thanks Luke). It is a spreadsheet that can be used to work out how powerful your setup will be based upon various factors (including motor and lipo being used). The power Analysis spreadsheet can be downloaded here --> Power Analysis In the table below the Align is shown with a 13T, this is the difference between maths and real life ;-) |
