The following is a review of the Quick UK thrust raced tail hub and grips. This is a full CNC machined set of tail blade grips with a steel hub and thrust races to handle the tail blade loading.
*note: The tail hub and grips reviewed here are part of a prototype batch, the production units will be available in approximately 4 weeks time.

Build Overview
The tail hub and grips comes preassembled and ready for installation. The machine quality of the hub and grips is superb and just feeling the play in the blade grips you get a sense of good quality and tight tolerances. This is in contrast to the thrust raced tail hub from Align which has a lot of endplay on the blade grips.
Overall the fit and finish exudes a well designed and engineered tail hub and grips. Although preassembled the blade grip bolts were secured with loctite and unscrewing the blade grip bolts took some significant pressure in order to release the screws.
The bearings in the blade grips are of nice quality and once again I felt confident that this was going to be a significant performance improvement over my existing Align thrust raced tail hub.
Fitting
The tail hub is a one for one replacement of the Align hub the only difference being that the Quick UK hub has two grub screws to secure it to the tail rotor shaft. Fitting the new hub and grips is a simple case of replacing the existing hub with the new one, everything else just swaps over onto the new hub. There was no requirement for any modification to the upgrade part, it bolted straight on.
Flight Review
Having seen how nice the quality was during the build overview I had high expectations for this tail hub in-flight. In this regard it did not disappoint at all.
I have always suffered with a slow wag on my T-Rex since upgrading to the thrust race tail from Align. Before this I had the radial bearing tail hub (supplied in the kit) which suffered from the bearings locking up in flight. Bearing this in mind the tail has always been a weak spot on the T-Rex 600. This new tail hub changes all of that.
Right from takeoff the tail was absolutely rock solid, no wag, no bounce just a super tail hold with lovely crisp stops from pirouettes. This is exactly what I was expecting and was a huge relief after all of the tail issues I have had with the Align offerings.
I see lots of upgrades that marginally improve things or in some cases perform exactly the same as the stock items, occasionally I come across an upgrade which offers a significant improvement and the Quick UK tail fits into this second category. I couldn't be happier with this new tail hub and grips, it has finally resolved my lack of faith in the T-Rex 600 tail.

Conclusion
Finally we have a tail hub and blade grips that really really works. There are various offerings on the market to upgrade the T-Rex 600 tail, this new offering from Quick UK is absolutely the one to go for.
This upgrade is a must have item for those looking for outstanding performance from their tail and comes extremely highly recommended. I am very glad that Quick UK gave me the opportunity to review this item and it has finally put to rest one of my main areas of dissatisfaction with the T-Rex 600.
